What are microgreens?
Microgreens are young, edible plants harvested just after the first leaves develop. They’re smaller than baby greens but packed with flavor, color, and nutrients. Common varieties include broccoli, radish, sunflower, pea shoots, and more. A portion of microgreens is loaded with 3 times more nutrients than their larger counterparts.
How do they taste?
Microgreens taste like their larger counterparts. For example, broccoli microgreens taste like a head of broccoli with the stalk; radish tastes peppery, sorrel tastes lemony just like its herb counterpart.

- The best way is tossed on top of a salad with your favorite mix of greens and a little vinaigrette. The next best way is to make a sandwich with sliced black pepper turkey, muenster cheese, mayonnaise, tomato, and a small bit of microgreens on top. Lastly, you may use it as a garnish.
- Microgreens are incredibly versatile! You can:
- Add them to salads
- Top sandwiches, wraps, and burgers
- Garnish soup and pasta
- Blend into smoothies
- Finish dishes like avocado toast, eggs, or pizza
Think of them as both a flavor enhancer and a fresh garnish.
Do I need to refrigerate them?
Yes—unless you’re conducting a science experiment. Place them in a vented container with a paper towel underneath to zap excess moisture.
